Educational Objectives
The philosophy at AC/C TECH is to provide practical and focused training that will benefit students and the communities they serve. Specifically, AC/C TECH will provide step-by-step test and repair procedures for ranges, range hoods, refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers, dryers, gas furnaces, electric furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, electrical wiring, plumbing, interior maintenance, exterior maintenance, grounds, swimming pool maintenance, and more. Simply stated, the students will develop skills in maintaining a facility and various types of equipment. Also, they will gain experience in making technical repairs that eventually will be encountered on the job; and most importantly, they will learn the role of a maintenance technician and be able to perform the duties.
This training can also benefit inspectors, appraisers, leasing agents, property managers, community developers, private home owners, etc, because they will learn how thing work and better understand the components in a facility and the cost and time associated with maintaining that facility.
Like traditional institutions, AC/C TECH provides training that prepares students for entry-level employment positions, and provides training for those requiring advanced technical skills.
As a special niche, AC/C TECH will [1] conduct training at various apartment communities so that students can obtain maximum exposure in maintaining and repairing different equipment, [2] provide close individualized attention through small class sizes (maximum 16), [3] gear courses toward 65% hands-on training, [4] assign lab activities similar to those experienced on the job, and [5] structure courses so that individuals can learn on a step-by-step basis and progress at their own pace.
