Technical Certificate Programs
Plumbing Maintenance Technology
The Plumbing Maintenance program is designed to help students develop technical knowledge and skills related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components. Students will learn the anatomy of a plumbing system, how to repairs leaks, replace faucets, install fixtures, service water heaters, open clogged drains, and more. Also, students will learn plumbing codes related to administration and enforcement, material regulations, joints and connections, sanitary and drainage systems, vents, traps, interceptors, drain pipe cleanouts, water supply and distributions, etc. In addition, students will learn details about plumbing drawings and diagrams, tools used in the trade, and new plumbing products.
This program consists of five courses: [1] General Plumbing Maintenance, [2] Advanced Plumbing Maintenance, [3] Uniform Plumbing Codes I, [4] Uniform Plumbing Codes II, and [5] Plumbing Code Calculations. Courses are geared towards self-paced learning that will give students "maximum exposure" in maintaining plumbing systems When computed, the course lessons consists of 200 hours of specialized technical training: 110 hours of online training, followed by 40 hours of in-field training with an instructor, followed by another 50 hours of OJT (On-the-Job Training) through an employer.
Graduates will be awarded a Technical Certificate in Plumbing Maintenance Technology.
